High Oil Prices GOP Fault
I will take exception with Mr. Dingell on the idea the GOP is to blame for all energy woes. What needs to be asked is:
1)Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep a single new refinery from being built here in 30 years?
2) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep the coast of California from expanding it's oil production?
3) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep to keep the coast of Florida from being explored for oil and natural gas?
4) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep any new LNG terminals from being built to allow the import of liquified natural gas?
5) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep a new natural gas pipeline from Canada from being built?
6) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep a new natural gas pipeline from Alaska from being built?
7) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep any new nuclear reactors from being built?
8) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep the ANR from being explored?
9) Which politicial party's allied special interests have fought to keep clean coal technology from the market, and force electricity producers to use natural gas turbines? (See #4-6 to see if this makes sense!)
10) Which political party had a president sign a law allowing the export of north slope crude from Alaska?
If you answered the Democratic party to all of the above, give yourself a cookie. The truth is, the environmental activists that the Democrats are beholden to are as much to blame for our current energy situation as anyone. Their nimby policies and politics, scare tactics have kept us from keeping pace with our needs in the energy realm.

He's definitely a piece of work. Right up there with Charlie Rangel and Ted Kennedy as my least favorite guys in Washington.
They do smell, and they do have rather spectacular explosions occasionally, or at least that is my recollection of the ones in Long Beach, Ca. However, we do need more, especially in Ca. where they aren't allowed to sell gas refined in other states.
