What the Readers Think

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel finally answered the asterisk for Clarence Thomas today, with there own statement, which in no way represents reality, IMHO. They also printed a huge number of letters to the editor. If it's a representative group of letters, the majority of the readers are more conservative than the board would like.

Here's a great take on this from Jessica McBride, a former Journal Sentinel reporter.
Heres a good look at it, with a very funny cartoon from Wigderson Library and Pub.

They got beat down, but I agree, based on their remarks earlier in the week they don't get it.

The readers seem to though, most of them caught the fact that the supreme court's job is to interpret the Constitution, not be a representation of the Country. Thats why we have elected officials.

You've gotta love this line, though: "That Thomas' stances while on the Supreme Court are outside the black mainstream is fairly evident." They want to clarify that they didn't mean to be racist, so what do they do? Repeat the same bigoted statement they made before! How stupid do they think their readers are??

JB. I thought that was pretty funny, too.

Evidently we're all too dense to see that :)
