Asacan is right. Baghdad Bob actually wanted to go to Britain (where one of his kids live).
Thats a hoot because during his Ministry of Information days he said that Britain wasn't worth a shoe.
After doing some interviews and talking about writing a book Baghdad Bob has been off the radar for about a year. He never completely disowned his statements during the war. He said the information was correct but the interpretation was wrong (whatever that means).
Freedom... There are about 20 ways to interpret insults in arabic languages, so maybe he was calling Bush a goat fucker instead of a son of a goat. Farsi is a tough one to figure out.
Lord, as long as he is not in Lebanon I don't care. Dumb ass. However, I have heard that he had a rifle pointed at his head during those broadcasts. Afterall, if you had Saddam as your friendly neighbourhood dictator, wouldn't you do what he said when he could murder your family?
I am not negating what Baghdad Bob did but I can tell you, he is in reality a University prof of English Lit and not a PR man. In a way, I kind of feel sorry for him. Hold on, ok, the feeling has passed. Dumb ass.
Maybe our pal Baghdad Bob had a rifle pointed at his head, but he never made that claim in his interviews after the war. Besides, Bobby has been a high ranking member of Hussein's regime since day one.
On the other hand, he was accused of barging into al-Jazeera's offices with an AK47 and threatening to shoot them if they didnt cooperate with the Baathist regime.
