We Have A Crisis!

Really, we do. It has nothing to do with Iran getting nukes, Russia playing with Europes supply of natural gas, or immigration from Mexico. Nope, according to John Alter, if we confirm Samuel Alito, the Constitution is done. Really. Check out the headline from Newsweek and read the story.

That's a pretty intimidating heading, isn't it? What it represents is the far left wing of the media attempting to influence the Alito votes in the Senate. The standard left war cry of "Roe will die!" didn't resonate on either of the last two nominees. This is the new cry, that the Constitution itself is going to be slayed by the evil right wingers who are being appointed to the court.

I used the term the "far left wing" of the media for a reason, as I chronicled yesterday, the Washington Post has endorsed Alito (though backhandedly) for the post, but some other papers have too, The LA Times, and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which is probably the most liberal editorial board nobody reads. Even the NY Times has admitted that the President earned the right to have his nominees confirmed by winning two elections. The "regular left" media understands how the system works, they don't like it right now, but they get it.

Why are Alter, and others, on the far left still screaming about Alito? My guess is the age of John Paul Stevens, he's rather old. While he probably wouldn't retire while Bush is in office, that don't mean he'll live until 2009. The far left is laying the ground work for attacks on any nominee Bush would come up with to replace the second most liberal voice (behind Ginsburg).

Can you imagine how hysterical they would be if we were replacing one of the most liberal people on the court? Sheesh!!!

Ascan, I'm laughing my ass off just thinking of Ted Kennedy's head EXPLODING when he heard the news!

LMC- I think you are right, had either of these nominations been to replace Stevens or Ginsburg, the fight would have been much bloodier.

This is one of the reasons why I am glad that the hearings are aired for the AMERICAN people to view and listen to. People are not stupid, they can see straight through this. The Democrat Senators should be held accountable for their actions on how they conducted the questioning during the hearings and in the future on voting day.

Everyone knows that this man is perfect to sit on our highest court. Wonder how they are going to get around this.... I feel he will be confirmed....and happy when it happens. (smiling)

This only makes people more outraged with the left and their bullsh*t.

P.S. Oh that would be awesome Bush getting to add another judge to the bench!! (smiling)

Suzie - The only problem with the airing of the hearings is their ability to put the nation to sleep.

Ascan, if we could get it to happen during a Committee meeting that head exploding might take them all out.

Suzie - I think you are right. Unfortunately the folks on that committee weren't trying to communicate with the average voter. They were scoring points with the PACs and other organizations that fund them.

And yes, another Bush nominee would be cool. I do think it will happen. We'll see

Wyatt, nice to see you. I agree about the sleep thing, had to drink coffee at 5pm to stay awake for them.

Their final appeal is no longer theirs (we hope). It is a catastrophe -- for them!

A conservative Supreme Court is a dream for some and a nightmare for others* (and the left's dream is our nightmare.)

And then, Yankee Mom, we'll get them to read the oaths they took when they got into office. That would be a riot! They might figure out what their jobs are and who they work for.
