Dem's Ticked About Sam

(Updated at 9:50pm)
Democratic stalwarts Chuck Shumer and Harry Reid are ticked about the Alito nomination. Shumer because Alito has pretty well made it clear in previous opinions that he doesn't consider abortion a sacred right. The judge had the gall to say kids should have to notify their parents before having an abortion, and wives should notify husbands, and be given counseling on the known side effects.

Reid because GWB didn't bother to consult him again, as he did with Miers. After the Miers debacle, why would Bush consult him again? Besides, Harry presented a list of "agreeable choices" before both Roberts and Miers were nominated. I'm sure George kept it around, and consulted it.

Ted Kennedy, NARAL and Pat Leahy are also ticked about the choice. What this tells everyone is that Bush made a good choice for his base, and probably most moderate conservatives, and conservative Democrats. The folks who will be the most miffed are the far left, who make the most noise anyway.

Stand by to get bombed by ads from the far left about how Sam is going to destroy civil rights, vote to turn the forests over to megacorporations, and probably force women to move to back alleys to even discuss abortion.

Hugh Hewitt has a poll on the nomination, and the idea of busting a filibuster. Check it out.

The MSM isn't doing much better:
News Busters has a good breakdown of this mornings coverage on the Today Show.
Drudgereport has a good write up of CBS's White House Correspondent John Roberts asking if Alito is "sloppy seconds".
Political Teen has the video of Chris Matthews skewering the Democrats over their talking points about Alito. The first one, not abortion, not civil rights. Nope, the first one was that he didn't get a conviction on some Italian American mobsters in 1988!

I should write Dick Durbin and asked if he's gotten any memos on how to vote, I'm sure that the NOW folks have sent him one :)

About all the posts, I've got a stash of typing elves that do most of the work for me :)
