Crap Alec, What Now?
Congratulations to Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party. It should be interesting to see how cross border relations change with the new PM.
Because he doesn't have a majority in the House of Commons, Harper probably won't be able to do anything too radical, but some incremental changes will probably begin to happen. Don't expect the Canadian national health plan to disappear in favor of HMO's and PPO's, but hopefully it will be refined to reduce wait times, and allow some competition.
While the absolutely regressive Goods and Service Tax won't be eliminated, he is speaking of cutting it. That's a good start to weening the folks up there of their semi-socialist inklings.
Daimnation! has more info on the election results from a Canadian.

I always love to see these movies stars up in arms because of stuff like this. And yea, we had the "right" for about 10 years, I remember talkin about all that. Too bad most people don't remember that stuff or want to.
Fuming!! (lol) More like throwing a temper tantrum!! (LOL)
So happy for our Canadians friends!!
Now Canada is headed in the RIGHT direction....(hurray)
Suzie, I forgot Michael Moore, evidently Canada did too :)
DaddysGirl Remember, Alec and them were going to move in 2000, and still live here. Pampered movie stars just like to whine when they don't get their way.
Yes, I love this. My first thought when it looked like the conservatives were going to win is where are the liberals going to threaten to move to now? I guess it doesn't matter since they never make good on their threats.
I had a huge smile on my face yesterday when I read that Micheal Moore was upset about this. Life is rough when you're a lib and you keep losing elections :-).
This is bad. Very bad.
Now where in the world are they going to [promise to] move to if Hillary loses in '08??
LMC, generally anything that bugs Mike Moore makes me happy :)
Maybe they'll join Dr. Z from Sports Illustrated in New Zealand... Wait, he hasn't left either!
I couldn't help but notice that this is getting very little attention in MSM. The stories are buried several pages back in all the papers I read.
If a conservative government fell it would be headlines.
Shoprat, look at the way they treated the Spanish elections, and compare them to the Austrailian. You are very right.
