War on Terror News

A top US Commander in Iraq is calling the requests for a timeline in Iraq a "recipe for disaster", and says that setting a date would mean that the 221 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division, who've lost their lives this year, would be lost in vain. That from Maj. Gen. William Webster.

In Washington, Cindy Sheehan and other protesters who were arrested for protesting without permits in front of the White House have plead not guilty. There's a surprise. Her and her cohorts will also be returning to Texas over the holidays, where they'll be greeted by a new county ordinance that doesn't allow camping and portable toilets in ditches. Guess she needs another ticket.

There seems to be a deal afoot to curb a few of the subpoena powers under the Patriot Act, and require more disclosure over use of the existing powers. The deal would renew most of the Act permanently, and give some areas another seven years.

The funny thing about the Patriot Act is every provision in it already existed under RICO and other Federal laws, including the insidious library book review which is being revised (ask the Unabomber about that one).

I found no news on naked cheerleaders, Britney Spears, Anna Kournikova, or lesbian ducks while doing my research on the War on Terror Update. (yes, it's a cheap search engine trick, but at least I'll admit it!)
